By pure luck I found this incredible stall in Queens Parade, Clifton Hill. It was late in the evening and the last bus home was due, so I couldn’t hang around long.
Apparently, the Jam Lady from Healesville, sells her produce from a little homewares shop in the Parade and was out the front touting Xmas taste treats. I grabbed a jar, Spiced Syrian Figs and it’s just gorgeous.
I’ve never tasted a better fig jam and I’ve tucked away a lot over the years.
Luscious Lunch
- I sliced up a loaf of ciabatta and brushed the slices with olive oil, salt, pepper and a few drops of balsamic vinegar.
- Then I spread a nice even layer of soft goat cheese over the breaD and, on top of that, a layer of the Spiced Syrian Figs paste.
- A quick bake (10 minutes) at 350 degrees and there was a delightful lunch for the old man and myself. Absolutely heavenly!
I missed the Quince!
I wish I’d had more time to ferret through her jams, you can imagine how I felt when I got home and looked at the couple of photos that I’d taken.
See the Quince with Rosewater? I would kill for a good quince jam!
I don’t know the lady’s name, she’s just the Jam Lady, but that will do me. Her jam speaks for itself.
A quick google found her JamLady Jam website and all the places I can buy her goodies. You can bet I’ll be stocking up on jams!
